Millenials embrace e-cigarettes more than other generations
Having grown up during a period of exponential technological growth, it's no surprise that the millennial generation, born between the early 1980s and the early 2000s, is more tech-savvy than their older peers. Being immersed in technology like home computers, Internet and cellphones since childhood is likely a major reason millennials are so comfortable adapting to new technology like smartphones, tablets and 3-D TVs. It may also explain why this generation makes up the majority of e-cigarette users.
Overall e-cigarette use is on the rise
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly 6 percent of American adults had tried e-cigs by 2011, which is nearly double the amount in 2010. Between 2010 and 2011, the most recent data available, the CDC found that e-cig usage increased across a number of demographics, including both sexes, people living in the South and adults between the ages of 45 and 54. Now, there are about 2.5 million people in the U.S. who vape e-cigs regularly, Mashable reports.
"E-cigarette use is growing rapidly," said Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the CDC.
Millennials are more likely to vape
While e-cigarettes are becoming popular among many groups, millennials are at the forefront of this technology. A survey conducted by GfK MRI, titled "Survey of the American Consumer," found that approximately 44 percent of e-cigarette users fell within the millennial generation. This is about 1.1 million people from age 18 to their mid-30s who enjoy electronic cigarettes. Whether millennials like that e-cigs have a cool glowing light or can be charged via USB just like their smartphones and other handheld devices is unclear, but whatever the reason, this group certainly has a lot of options for finding the right e-cig to suit their personality and style.
E-cigarette brands like South Beach Smoke offer a variety of flavors, as well as disposable options for people who are not ready to commit to an e-cigarette starter kit. E-cig users can choose from tastes like piña colada and chocolate or opt for a classic tobacco flavor. They can even get cool accessories like car adapters so they can charge their e-cigs on the go, making South Beach Smoke e-cigarettes a great addition to the busy lifestyle of the millennial who loves to vape.
