Electric cigarettes enjoying a Hollywood moment
E-cigs have found themselves in the spotlight as more members of the Hollywood elite continue to embrace the smokeless vaping lifestyle. For some celebrities, it’s the ultimate fashion statement on top of their Louboutins and Birkin bags. For others, e-cigs are the perfect way to kick back in luxury.
So, who are the members of this reigning Hollywood e-cig class? Academy Award-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio may walk the red carpet this year with an e-cig in hand. In fact, the widely celebrated actor was spotted vaping with one during the 2014 Golden Globes ceremony, although he left it off-stage while receiving his Best Actor award. Fellow Golden Globe winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus also flashed a smokeless vaping device during the show’s opening bit, taking on the persona of a classy, electric cigarette-puffing movie star.
While DiCaprio has long been known as the e-cig poster boy, he’s hardly the only man in Tinseltown toting an electronic cigarette on and offset. Academy Award-nominee Johnny Depp is a major fan of vaping, and even puffed on one during several scenes in 2010’s rom-com thriller “The Tourist.” Meanwhile, “American Idol” executive producer Simon Cowell recently switched to smokeless vaping because he was drawn to the healthy lifestyle.
Of course, we can’t talk about e-cigs in Hollywood without mentioning actress Katherine Heigl, who famously pulled out her bejeweled e-cig and vaped during an on-air interview with David Letterman.
“It’s water vapor,” Heigl explained to Letterman during the interview. “You feel like you’re smoking … but you blow out water vapor, so you’re not harming anyone around you or harming yourself.”
The Emmy Award-winning actress even let Letterman have a try at the electric cigarette, and he was instantly sold.
“This is remarkable,” he said after a few puffs.
Who knows – David Letterman may be the latest Hollywood star to join the e-cig lifestyle.
